A frequency converter from 0.5 to 1000 kVA producing 50, 60 or 400 Hz at 0–520 V, with a response of 2 ms or less and THD of 1–2%. It is the supply used for aviation, marine and test-bench equipment that expects a frequency the local grid does not provide.
What this platform is built to do.
The frequency converter range provides a stable AC supply at 50 Hz, 60 Hz, 400 Hz, or a programmable frequency. It is used in aviation ground power, marine systems, test benches, and export equipment that must run at a different frequency from the local grid.
The TPS61 single-phase series covers 500 VA–2 kVA; the TPS63 three-phase series covers 3–600 kVA; the AFC series covers 5–1000 kVA. The output voltage is adjustable across 0–300 V phase-neutral and 0–520 V line-line, and the frequency is programmable from 40 to 499.9 Hz.
A frequency converter is not a UPS. It changes the frequency and voltage but does not provide backup unless a battery option is added. For a frequency-sensitive load with outages, combine the converter with a UPS or an EPS.
Multi-frequency
50, 60, 400 Hz, or a programmable frequency for test benches.
Adjustable voltage
0–300 V phase-neutral and 0–520 V line-line.
Low distortion
Sine wave output with ≤1–2% THD.
Project range
From 500 VA bench units to 1000 kVA project frames.

Frequency converter: project questions.
Project-specific answers. If your question is not here, send the load list and the site conditions.
Talk to an engineer What is a frequency converter used for?
It supplies equipment that needs a different frequency from the local grid, such as 400 Hz aviation equipment or 60 Hz machines in a 50 Hz country.
Is it a UPS?
No. It converts frequency and voltage but does not provide backup unless a battery option is added. Use a UPS for outage ride-through.
Can the output voltage be adjusted?
Yes. The output is adjustable across 0–300 V phase-neutral and 0–520 V line-line, depending on the model.
What is the maximum capacity?
The AFC series extends to 1000 kVA. The TPS63 series covers 3–600 kVA. Confirm the frame and the cooling for the site.
Can it run a motor?
It can supply a motor within its rating, but the starting current and the load step must be checked. A frequency converter is not a motor starter.
