A rack-mount online UPS from 1 kVA to 60 kVA in 1U–6U formats, with external battery packs and SNMP monitoring. Choose it when the load already lives in a rack and the UPS should not take floor space or a separate room.
What this platform is built to do.
Rack-mount UPS systems put a true online topology into standard 19-inch racks. The YT-R and UM families cover 1–10 kVA with 1U, 2U, and 3U chassis, front-panel LCD, and 0 ms transfer. They are used in server rooms, edge cabinets, network points of presence, and security racks where floor space is not available.
The input stage accepts 85–300 VAC on high-voltage models and the output is a pure sine wave with THD below 3% on linear loads. Standard models include internal batteries for short runtime; long-runtime models use external battery packs in the same rack. Communication includes RS-232 or USB, with SNMP and dry-contact options for building management and remote monitoring.
For a rack deployment, confirm the usable depth, the rail kit, the battery pack height, and the airflow direction. A 1U unit with an external battery pack can need 3U–4U in total; a 3U long-runtime model may need 6U–8U with batteries. The rack thermal load is the sum of the UPS losses and the battery recharge, not just the IT load.
Rack-native
Standard 19-inch mounting with rail kits and front-to-back airflow.
Online topology
Double conversion and 0 ms transfer, not a line-interactive compromise.
External runtime
Add battery packs in the same rack for 30–120 minutes.
Remote alerts
SNMP and dry contacts for NOC, BMS, and alarm panels.

Rack UPS: project questions.
Project-specific answers. If your question is not here, send the load list and the site conditions.
Talk to an engineer How much rack space does a 3 kVA rack UPS need?
A 3 kVA online rack UPS is typically 2U–3U, plus battery space. Long-runtime configurations can need 4U–6U in total. Confirm the chassis depth and the rail kit before ordering.
Can I add external batteries to a standard rack UPS?
Only if the model is designed for an external pack. Standard models with internal batteries have a fixed DC bus and charger; connecting a larger bank without checking the charger can damage the battery.
Is the rack UPS loud?
Online rack UPS units use forced ventilation. Noise is typically below 55 dB at 1 m, but small racks in occupied rooms should account for fan noise and heat.
Does it support remote shutdown?
Yes. RS-232 or USB with vendor software supports graceful shutdown; SNMP provides network alerts and can trigger shutdown scripts.
Can I install it in a sealed cabinet?
Only with adequate ventilation. The UPS and battery pack reject heat into the rack; a sealed cabinet will overheat. Plan the thermal load and airflow path.
